A jargon-free, first-line, confidential advice for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) on intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and related issues from the expert of The China and South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk focusing on ICT, creative and smart city sectors.
The following themes will be discussed:
- General IPR issues: including IP registration and establishing an IP protection strategy;
- Specialties of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South-East Asia;
- Practical business challenges, such as choosing a business partner, attending a trade fair, licensing (with practical tips and case studies).

For 8 years, Philippe has been assisting start-ups and mid-sized innovation players from Europe to China and to South East Asia. Philippe provides advice in areas ranging from IP protection strategy to technology transfer assistance and contractual documents negotiation. As a partner at AGM abogados and at DWP-AXT Shanghai, Philippe speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian and German. Philippe joined the China and South-East Asia Helpdesks in 2013.
The China and South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk supports European Union Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to both protect and enforce their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in or relating to Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and in South-East Asia through the provision of free information and services. These take the form of jargon-free, first-line, confidential advice on intellectual property and related issues, plus training, materials and online resources. The IPR SME Helpdesk project is funded by the European Union and builds on the achievements of a pilot project since 2008.
